Dear friends, family and colleagues,
Despite the trying times we're facing still,
2021 has been a year of great events and exhibitions.
I want to end this year by highlighting my most recent activities
and by wishing you all a very happy and
prosperous new year!

WE'RE MAGIC. WE'RE REAL#3 (These Walls)
Jeannette Ehlers one hour durational performance
Nørgaard På Strøget

We’re Magic. We’re Real # 3 (These Walls) is curated by Designer Mads Nørgaard and is my most recent one hour durational performance created for the exhibition in Nørgaard Paa Strøget in the center of Copenhagen.

We’re Magic. We’re Real # 3 (These Walls) interferes disruptively and poetically with public space, pointing to the structures that bind us together and challenges us, based on the history of colonization.
Please watch a short documentation of the performance here

As part of my solo show Take Root at MOCAD - Museum Of Contemporary Art Detroit a community braiding event took place on December 4. The event was created in collaboration with Detroit based artist Halima Cassells and served as the foundation for our collaboratory piece Secret Pathways to Freedom:

Bonding moments spent braiding connects us to the memories of our ancient future. Originating in Africa (like all of humanity) braids link us across all water, and generations. Holding jewels, seeds, secret pathways to freedom, the essence of ourselves is imbued with the act of deep care and conversation. Braids remind us that our co-liberation is bound up together.

This piece was created in a collective intergenerational braiding circle with elements that were carried across the Atlantic, as well as sourced here in Detroit/ Codename Midnight/ Waawiiyaataanong.

Kunsthal Charlottenborg has launched its first Biennale titled Poet Slash Artist. The international art exhibition is shown in the streets, train stations and bus stops all across Denmark.
Poet Slash Artist, curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Lemn Sissay, is an exploration of poets who work with visual art and visual artists who work with poetry.

The works of art at this year’s Biennale can be seen in several hundred places on streets, bus stops and train stations throughout Denmark from 15 November to 31 December 2021(please click to find full list of locations).
The large distribution means that 84% of the Danish population can experience works from the exhibition around the country. The works can also be experienced together from 27.-31. December 2021 (extended to 18 January 2022) at Nørreport Station and in the courtyard at Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen.
