Offering afterschool programs to
disconnected youth in El Paso County

Over the past five years, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA)-Yucca Council and the Paso del Norte Health Foundation have teamed up to increase the participation of disconnected youth in the Scouts, adding more than 1,000 families to the Scouting family since 2013.


Texas A&M Colonias Program receives award from SISD

The program was selected as a Socorro ISD (SISD) Partners in Education: Education Empowerment Award Recipient for providing health programming for mothers and families through its De Mujer A Mujer (DMAM) and More Counts programs, funded by the Health Foundation. 


Brown Bag Series

This program offers training for nonprofit board of directors.

San Elizario adopts clean air ordinance

The San Elizario Mayor and City Council Members voted unanimously in June to adopt a clean air ordinance, designed to reduce smoking rates in the City.


Andeavor supports plan for next segment
of Playa Drain Trail

Planning for the next phase of the Playa Drain Trail from Riverside High School to Ysleta High School will now begin thanks to a generous $50,000 grant from Andeavor to the Paso del Norte Foundation.

Paso del Norte Trail

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation hosted a public meeting in mid-July to get additional public input on the proposed county-wide Paso del Norte Trail. More than 100 people attended.

El Paso Giving Day training for nonprofits

In preparation for El Paso Giving Day (Nov. 15, 2018), the Paso del Norte Foundation is offering a set of free training seminars and online webinars for participating nonprofits, beginning in August. The seminars are aimed to help staff and volunteers for El Paso’s nonprofits to get the most out of El Paso Giving Day.


The importance of afterschool programs for children

Youth participating in high-quality afterschool programs have higher rates of school attendance, better grades and higher test scores.


Construction continues on Playa Drain Trail

Crews are working on trailheads at Ascarate Park and Riverside High School entrances as well as along the trail intersections. Most of the trail surface is completed and amenities are starting to be added.


Building communities for good health

For the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, 2017 was a year of building layers of wellness in areas of physical activity and increasing the medical workforce for the region. Let us show you the changes that are taking place.
