Don't forget your weekly offering for Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS). We need your help to reach our goal!

This Week

Sunday | Feb 15, 2015  |  Transfiguration of Our Lord

If you were a superhero, what would your super power be? What would you wear? What would be your superhero name, and icon or logo?

It's fun to use our imaginations, but Jesus is a true superhero! The wonder of the gospel is that God came to us in the person of Jesus Christ, loving us as we are and no matter what. Some people think the Bible is filled with superheroes, but that's not exactly true. If we read the Bible and hear God's word, we see that God's story (our story) is about ordinary people like you and me, overcoming insurmountable obstacles and doing extraordinary things, with God's help.

This week, as we look at the mountain-top experience of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, ECLC second graders and their parents, will enjoy a fun and faith-filled time exploring the wonder of the gospel, the Lord's Prayer, and our God-given "Super Powers" of prayer -- with super hero capes, comics, and colorful prayer beads.

We're also inviting everyone to join us in posting sticky note prayers for justice & peace; caring for others and the world God made using a resource that can help all of us recognize and respond to Unmet Universal Human Needs; providing a language of feelings that tell us whether a person's needs are being met or not met. Please take the time, either alone or with your family or class, to add your prayers!
Children in second grade will also be given a blessing in worship, and a gift during their milestone event. As always, godparents or sponsors, family, friends, and neighbors, are welcome to join us in celebrating the growing faith life of ECLC Kids Youth and Families.

Let me know if you have questions.

Thank you!
Kelly Rowley
