UPDATE Your Registration to Attend Our Monthly Meetings!
The NGO Committee on Migration expresses our sincere apology for the difficulties some members experienced in attempting to join our October monthly meeting. Due to the cumulative nature of our Zoom registration process, we exceeded the maximum number of registrants. As a result, a number of individuals received an automated message stating that registration was closed and thereby could not participate in the NGO CoM meeting.
To remedy this issue going forward, we wiped the slate clean and are beginning Zoom registrations anew. In order to join the NGO CoM November monthly meeting (10 November, 11:00am-1:30pm ET) we kindly ask that you update your registration.

Hybrid-Event on Effective Implementation of the GCM
The United Nations University Center for Policy Research has organized an upcoming hybrid event titled ‘From promises to practice: Towards the effective implementation of the Global Compact on Migration’, in partnership with the MIDEQ Hub and Geneva Science-Policy Interface.
This event provides an opportunity to reflect on progress related to the implementation of the GCM and will discuss challenges that lie ahead to turn the Global Compact’s promises into practice. It will focus on four cross-cutting principles underpinning the implementation process:
- The need to ensure effective respect, protection and fulfilment of the human rights of all migrants, regardless of their migration status, across all stages of the migration cycle;
- The commitment to eliminate all forms of discrimination, including racism, xenophobia and intolerance against migrants and their families;
- The importance a whole-of-government approach to ensure horizontal and vertical policy coherence across all sectors and levels of government; and
- The need for a whole-of-society approach to address migration in all its dimensions.
The event is aimed at UN agencies, Member States, NGOs, civil society organizations, academia and others with an interest in ensuring the effective implementation of the GCM. It will be held on 3 November 2022, from 3:00pm-5:00pm (Geneva time) 10:00am-12:00pm (EST). You can attend online (Zoom) or in-person (Warwick, Geneva, Rue de Lausanne 14, 1201 Geneva, Switzerland; Rigi & Cervin room, Level 1).

Let's Share Our Resources & Amplify Migration Advocacy
The NGO Committee on Migration (NGO CoM) is a coalition comprised of more than 45 organizations, with the shared mission of encouraging the promotion and protection of migrants and their human rights. In efforts to amplify our migration knowledge and advocacy messaging, we would like to prioritize sharing the work and resources of our members in our weekly updates.
Accordingly, we are inviting you to send us your migration resources to share them with a wider audience. Has your organization recently produced a report, video, policy brief, toolkit, or other resource we can share? Please send them to the NGO Committee on Migration at ngomigrationcommittee@gmail.com.
Each week, be sure to check the "Resources" section in the NGO CoM updates for featured resources from our members, partners, and organizations with work focused on upholding the rights of people on the move.
In light of the rapidly approaching COP27 (UN Conference on Climate Change), we would like to call your attention to a new resource from the Advisory Group on Climate Change and Human Mobility. They recently released joint messages to prepare and engage at the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27). Under the title “COP27 Must Act on Human Mobility,” the joint messages were drafted with contributions from additional civil society organizations.
