Welcome
A number of new reps have been added to the distribution list for this fortnightly update bulletin. If this is the first time you have received Fed Matters, welcome and please provide any feedback you have to: communications@polfed.org

The aim of the bulletin is to give you a broad update of the work of PFEW.

Police Investigation

On Tuesday 15 March, the Police Federation of England and Wales contacted Surrey Police to ask them to investigate potential fraudulent activity, relating to accounts held by the Federation’s Constables’ Central Committee. On Friday 18 March four men were arrested and later released on bail.

The issue was identified by the PFEW itself and we are fully cooperating with the ongoing enquiry.

The day-to-day running of the PFEW is not affected and the PFEW remains committed to representing its 122,000 members.

Because of the ongoing enquiry, it would be inappropriate to comment further.
Believe in Blue

Thanks to those Branch Boards who are getting behind this national campaign, highlighting Believe in Blue in their Federation magazines as well as talking to local media about it.

The drive to relaunch British policing and celebrate our service is sweeping the nation – so far 5,000 people have visited the website, hundreds are engaged on social media and one million people are set to see the campaign adverts in the cinema.  The campaign adverts are still in selected cinemas so grab your popcorn!

Believe in Blue is primarily a public-facing campaign to engender stronger support for police officers by showcasing the demands of the job and the many roles officers carry out in society, not just tackling crime.

The photo above is taken from a clip of the film and the quote is from a Met constable, after seeing the film in his local cinema.

Conference 2016
We are now just 33 working days away from Conference. A special bulletin will be circulated prior to the event which will provide full details of the agenda and links to resources. It will also contain information on how to submit questions for the Home Secretary.

Due to the State Opening of Parliament the Home Secretary will now be attending on Tuesday 17 May.

Next year, conference will take place in Birmingham over two days.
Accreditation
PFEW is pleased to announce that it has been granted status as an approved centre by SFJ Awards. The SFJ develop and deliver nationally recognised qualifications for the Justice and Community Safety Sector, the Legal Sector, Local Government and the Military. This accreditation will enable PFEW staff and reps to gain accreditation for any learning and development programs they undertake in the organisation.

Can you help us with a photoshoot?
We are still looking for police forces to volunteer to host a photographer for the day.

The photographer will need to capture images of officers on duty going about their normal day to day business. Photos will be available for all federations to use.
