Thinking Ahead to Christmas
We had a good discussion at the last open mic about some ideas to make the Christmas Special Open Mic as special as we can.
So far we have agreed to:
- dressing up in our best, sparkly party clothes
- Christmas/seasonally themed contributions as far as possible
- muted singalong/karaoke Christmas songs (email me with any song suggestions)
- A live mummer's play (Steve Cleary to lead)
- A prerecorded choir version of The Fairytale of New York (Ian Kellet to lead)
We are still very happy to hear any other ideas to make our 2020 Christmas Special as magical as possible, so please email me, using the button below, with any flashes of inspiration.
Let me know if you would like to be involved in the mummer's play. Steve and Mike already have ideas about how this will work. We are hoping that this will be performed live on the night but it will need a little rehearsal time. It will probably involve four people including Steve and Sandi. Send me an email using the button below and I will send out scripts once I have coordinated with Steve. If lots of people are interested we may do more than one play!
Likewise, send me an email if you'd like to contribute to Ian's festive choir singing The Fairytale of New York. Ian has already produced a backing track which will also have a vocal guide. He is producing a video guide of what you need to do to record your video. He envisages a Band Aid style track. More details will follow but he would like videos of people playing and singing and also of couples waltzing to the track. If you send me an email, I will send you the track to record along to once it's ready. When your recording is ready, you can upload it using the special Dropbox link on the orange button below. Please let me know ASAP if you want to take part so that Ian has as much time as possible to put everything together.
Everyone is welcome to send ideas and contribute, whether you have been to one of the virtual open mic nights before or not. We'd love to make it our biggest yet!
