#1 the Children
The children are doing well. Incidence of Malaria is down this year, and overall health has improved. We are continuing our focus on learning support as a teacher continues to help 3 evenings per week at the orphanage.
In April, we purchased 2 acres of land with many Palm and Mango trees and even a pond. Here David, the orphanage Director closes the transaction with Mr. Karangwa, the vendor.
We have fenced a quarter acre to start a vegetable garden. Cabbage, eggplant and wild spinach (Lega-lenga) were planted and are growing well. In the picture Musa, Riziki and Omari help with weeding.
Security is very important in Congo. The final few items to complete the guard house will be done this week: finishing the inside walls, laying the floor and adding a few pieces of furniture. After completion, a guard will permanently reside at the property.
Thank you to all our Donors who have so generously supported us through 2017!
Help us build a Reading Centre
An estimated 3.5 million children in Congo are not attending primary school, mainly due to financial reasons. We want to change the lives of some of these children with the gift of basic literacy. See more of our projecthere.
