About Herself
"I have 21 year old triplets (Samantha, Emma & Alec) that are named for Salmonella! When we were choosing names, we pretended hollering at them.
Say ‘SAM, EM & AL’ fast 3 times…… sounded like Salmonella.
Being a food microbiologist, it just had to be!"


Favorite Food
"That’s a really hard question because I love all types of food, eating and cooking. I’d say a good Chicago hot dog".

Why should you be a part of the Longhorn IFT Community?
"It’s a wonderful way to network within our industries. There are so many different facets to the food, beverage, dietary supplement industries and Longhorn-IFT opens up opportunities for you to meet people that work in all professions within these industries; Sales, Quality, R&D, Purchasing, Regulatory, etc".

Advice for New Members and New Professionals 
"Volunteer, make yourself available and offer to help out. Step out of your comfort zone and go say ‘HI’ to a person you do not know. Get to know people and be visible".
 
Future of the Food Industry
"It’s always changing! There’s always a new opportunity around the corner, especially if you ‘think outside the box’. Regulations change, consumer preferences change, packaging, transportation, new ingredients, manufacturing processes, retail & foodservice all bring new opportunities. The food industry touches all aspects of our lives, and it won’t go away as we all have to eat".
