Howdy Texas Food Industry!
 
For the past 3 years, Texas A&M’s Food Science program has held a joint meeting between the Longhorn and Alamo sections of IFT as an “IFT-Aggie Day” in October. We appreciate those that have made the trip to College Station to meet and mentor our undergraduate and graduate students.
 
We would like to continue with these meetings on February 21-22, 2019, with a slightly different approach.
 
As many of you know, the Food Science faculty have developed a new research and education program called the “Food Diversity Innovation Program” or FDIP for short. Please click HERE for more information.  

Our first annual symposium will be on “Food Authentication and Certification” held on campus of Texas A&M University in the Rec Sports Center (across the street from Kyle Field).

The meeting and reception will begin on Thursday February 21st at 6 pm with a keynote and distinguished lecture from Dr. Jonathan Wilson, a dynamic speaker on diverse foods and supply chains. Plan for an over-night stay, and we will convene Friday morning with talks from Dr. John Coupland, a past-president of IFT and Mark Overland, director of global food certifications with Cargill….among many others.

We are inviting all students, but graduate and undergraduate, to attend this program for free. We have opportunities for your company to help support the program at its students as well HERE:
 
Our students will also be presenting their FDIP research projects, program over-views, and future plans for the FDI program including a $300,000 grant from the University to expand our research and training of students in areas of certified food systems, diverse foods, and quality control.
 
This symposia is an opportunity to network/partner with our faculty and students on this grant, and continue in the tradition of the “IFT-Aggie Day”.
