Meet and Greet with Hank Dres

About Himself
"I love working with students, giving them guidance and helping them with their job prospects. Internships are so important before a student graduates. If a student does not know where to find an internship I am happy to help them. The same applies after a student graduates. Some need more help then other finding the right job".

Favorite Food
"My favorite food is BBQ and steaks. In Texas alone BBQ can be different from one region of the state to another. I find steakhouses in far West Texas around El Paso to be the best in the state".

Why be a part of the Longhorn IFT Community?
"Being a member of the Longhorn IFT section keeps you in touch with other local members that are in the industry. Networking with other members is vital should someone be seeking different or new employment opportunities".

Advice for New Members and New Professionals
"I highly advise Food Science students to first get involved with their Food Science Club and upon graduation join an IFT section wherever they may relocate to".
Future of the Food Industry
"Opportunities in the food industry are unlimited. Unlike other occupations that offer limited opportunities, the food industry is diversified. When I speak to a group of Food Science students I tell them they will be feeding the world. The current world population is 7.8 billion people. By the year 2050 the world population is expected to be 9.7 billion people. That an enormous responsibility that students don’t realize!".
