As part of D4D's ongoing Sheffield Support Snood project (a new orthosis for people with neck muscle weakness) we met with our Expert Patient Advisory Group in June 2016 to discuss potential design changes that users would value. As a result of this discussion, and funded by prize money from a Design for Health competition, two bespoke collars were made to address the changes suggested by our experts - one requested a side-fastening collar, and the other asked for a change of colour and stronger supports.
The fittings of the bespoke collars took place in November. The users are now trying out their new collars and will give us their feedback over the coming weeks. We hope they like them!
The ongoing clinical trial has recruited 106 users so far, with recruitment anticipated to end early in the New Year.
