BOOK SALE UPDATE!
Morro Bay Friends of the Library is excited to announce that our Book Sales will now be held at the Library! With very careful consideration, the Board decided, at our January meeting, to make this change for 2016. Bringing our Book Sales back home to the Library will have many benefits, and although these sales may be a smaller in size, we want to assure you they will be filled with great bargains!
With our beautiful remodeled library in operation for almost a year, the Morro Bay Friends have had great fundraising success with the Book Store sales inside the library. Good quality, new-looking books are available for sale all days and hours the library is open, with new stock added frequently. Our Book Sale Coordinator, Laurie Allen, has organized the store by subject, so you can browse easily for your favorite reads. Please stop by for a little shopping!
Alongside the Book Store, we will periodically have our Book Sales set up inside the Library. The first 2016 Book Sale is Saturday, March 5th from 10 am to 5 pm. The sale will be open to “Members Only” from 9am-10 am, and you can always join or renew at the door! By having the Book Sales on-site, all funds raised will go back to the library rather than a portion paying the increased rental fees at the previous venue. This change will also create a more efficient use of our beautiful library building, and on-site setup will ease a lot of the heavy lifting and moving that was done by our Coordinator and our many dedicated volunteers. Volunteers, we will still need you for your expert help on these sales, so stay tuned! Book Sales will continue to have a wonderful selection of high quality books at very reasonable prices, so please spread the word!
Between the Book Store and the Book Sales, the Friends feel confident that we can continue to provide great programs and materials to our incredible Morro Bay Library and the community we serve. Please continue to donate your gently used books, DVDs and CDs to the library. These can be dropped off anytime during open hours. For more information and updates, please visit our website at mbfol.org.
Turning the Page A letter from Laurie Allen
Dear Friends and Volunteers,
For the last 8 years it has been my honor and pleasure to be your Book Sale Coordinator. During this time, with the help of a dedicated and talented group of library volunteers, we raised enough money to make sure that our remodel actually happened. What a wonderful legacy you invaluable volunteers have left all of Morro Bay.
Now it is time to move on to the next phase of book sales at the Morro Bay Library. Although we will no longer be having sales at the Community Center we will continue to make a variety of wonderful books, magazines and media available to you.
As most of you know, we have a lovely new Book Store in the library. The great thing about having the store is that you can browse and buy books whenever the library is open. Prices are still ridiculously low, and we will be arranging books by genre or subject for your browsing pleasure. We also have a large variety of magazines, DVDs, audiobooks and CDs.
So here are the things I hope you will remember from our 8 years together. First, in the history of volunteering there could never be a better group of people than you book sale folks, who hauled, packed, unpacked and wrangled books every 3 months, year in and year out, in fellowship and with good cheer. Because of your efforts, our book sales have been the best in the County, hands down!
Second, I want everyone to know that we will still need you volunteers on a regular basis, since we plan to continue having book sales in the library. This will be in addition to the books we are selling in the store. As soon as we know the dates, we will publicize them in the library, in the newsletters and on our MBFOL web page.
Third, please keep donating your gently-used books and current magazines to us, for the Store and our sales. With your continuing support, the Library will keep being a wonderful place to borrow and buy books and media in the coming years.
Thanks for your amazing support. Let’s make this next chapter as wonderful as the last one!
My very best wishes, Laurie Allen
