Hello Friends,
I’m excited to announce our upcoming book sale on May 16th, and to let everyone know that it will be wonderful. Many of you kind folks kept your donations until we re-opened, so we are getting a lot of terrific things for the sale. Speaking of the sale, we have added a new section of Historical Fiction, for those of us who love being transported out of the 21st century. We have been given a quilting library, a science library, and great numbers of good reads in fiction.

I hope you have been by to see your new Morro Bay Library, because it is really lovely. Clean and bright, quiet and colorful. We have a Friends Book Store just inside the Harbor St. entrance, and most of the books are $1.00.

We are looking forward to a great year. Please continue to bring in your clean, gently-used items for the book sale. We always are looking for fiction and non-fiction books (no texts please), DVDs, music CDs and books on tape and CD.

See you at the library!

Valued Volunteers.....
Flash back to June, 2014....  The Morro Bay Library was closing for a six month major remodel and there was a call for volunteers to help pack books and supplies to be moved down the street to the Temporary Library site across the street from the Post Office and to help the staff set up in their “new” headquarters.  Valued Volunteers came!
Fast-forward to February, 2015.  Another call came to help move materials from the Temp library back to the bright and shiny newly remodeled main branch.  Guiding, or attempting to guide rolling carts packed to the brim with books, AV materials, etc. UPHILL to the main branch was a sight to behold!  Once there, shelving and re-shelving took place, followed by shelf reading, painting slat-wall end panels, applying a fresh coat of paint to patio benches, and the list went on.  Valued Volunteers came!
And then, two days before the Grand Re-Opening on March 1, 2015, another call came to help with the “spit and polish” needed before such an important community event took place.  This included washing windows and screens, straightening shelves, dusting, last minute painting, cleaning around the exterior of building and sprucing up the grounds, just to name a few chores.  Valued Volunteers came!
The following volunteers.....some new and some tried and true; some who fulfilled several tasks, but ALL who are equally appreciated:
Laurie Allen                                      Dee Gatchell                             Tiffany Porter
Donna Anderson                              Marty Goar                                Jeannette Rattner
Randy Ball                                        Walter Heath                             Tim Rich
Rose Bodrian                                    Eric Johnson                             Karen Robert
Juan Carlos                                      Julie Larsen                               Steve Robertson
Gail Clark                                          Karen Lewan                             Alaine Steuk
Rhonda Crowfoot                              Betsy Kinter                              Susan Stewart
Tim Crowley                                      Dina Mancillas                          Donna & Chuck Stoll
Perry Cummings                               Marina Michele                         Mary Wainscott
Ric Deschler                                      Marlene Peter                          Carole Wallace
Susan Fishman                                  Joan Petersen                         Richard Wheat
Alice York

In closing, it is my understanding that persons not scheduled even stopped by to offer their services if needed.  My apologizes for not having those names or to anyone who did volunteer during this time period that were inadvertently omitted.  Valued Volunteers Rock at the Morro Bay Library!
