Gentec alumnus now at The Roslin Institute

Now a postdoc in Edinburgh, Robert Mukiibi talks about the value Gentec experience brings to his new project (read more here) and about his new paper in Journal of Animal Science (see Kudos).

Conference season!

Like every year, Gentec researchers and students attended the Plant and Animal Genome (PAG) conference and the Banff Pork Seminar. And in post-conference tradition, we encourage  students to share their insights for the benefit of the research community.

Congratulations, all!

Catch up on your Gentec reading

Check out Gentec's latest publications in BMC Genomics, led by AAFC’s ChangXi Li: The two studies represent the most comprehensive GWAS analyses in beef cattle in terms of high DNA marker density (7.8M SNPs) and larger sample size (>7500 for feed efficiency) in a single study. The genetic architectures will greatly enhance our understanding on genetic controls of major performance traits (feed efficiency and carcass merit) in beef cattle and help us design better genomic prediction strategies to select more efficient cattle with improved meat quality.
