Dr. Ralson, a Gentec academic collaborator, was awarded the 2022 Award of Distinction from Alberta Farm Animal Care at the 2002 Livestock Care Conference. This award recognizes exceptional contributions to the field of livestock welfare through leadership, innovation or communication. Olds announces expansion of Smart Farm operations into SK after l and pledge. The expansion will support ag-tech training and research opportunities. Olds and Gentec have a long history of research partnerships to benefit producers.
A real-time sequencing device determines age from tail-hair DNA. Useful for range animals where individual births may not be recorded. Ben Hayes at UQueensland is a collaborator with Gentec and adjunct professor at UAlberta. We love this type of advance that expands applications and brings them closer to the producer.
How Alberta cattle are helping research on antimicrobial resistance. Gentec partners W A Ranches and UCalgary are monitoring antibiotic use on farms to reduce disease in calves and prevent antibiotic-resistant bacteria from entering runoff and the drinking water supply.
