Happy Thursday, Charlotte Smart Person

Today is Honesty Day, so there are a few things I want to get off my chest. First, my favorite movie right now is "Pitch Perfect." I'm obsessed, and will probably see the sequel the day it comes out. Second, I was a Tennessee Titans fan before I moved to Charlotte. It was a mistake. Go Panthers. Finally, this is my first time writing the newsletter. The name's Corey Inscoe. Nice to meet you.

Your Thursday headlines:
  • Bank troubles: A Charlotte-area whistleblower suing Wells Fargo is now facing foreclosure from the same bank. “The reason I can’t pay my mortgage is because I did my job at the bank,” Robert Kraus says.
  • Coal ash: Much of the coal ash at two Duke Energy power plants in Eden and Wilmington will stay on site in lined landfills. The landfills will hold more than 6 million tons of coal ash combined.
  • Big beer: Triple C Brewing has finished nearly $600,000 in upgrades, boosting its brewing capacity by 50 percent. We've said it before: C5 is all for more local beer.
Today's CharlotteFive:

(1) Mocking the draft: Who will the Panthers pick?
The 2015 NFL Draft starts tonight. Remember these names and act like you expected it when the Panthers make their pick.

(2) Becoming Gov. Pat McCrory.
What is it like to be the governor of North Carolina? Joanne Spataro tries it out, with a wig and a 1960s suit.

(3) Make date night happen at Salud!
Need an idea for date night? Jennifer Hutson learns about the seduction of food at Salud! Cooking School. Bonus: You don't have to clean up.

(4) Hometown heroes at the Wells Fargo golf tourney
Tiger Woods announced that he won't play in Charlotte's Wells Fargo Championship. Sad face. But several golfers with Charlotte ties will be there.

(5) TBT: Check out this 1980s Belk ad.
Big hair, cheesy music and a mystery baby, all wrapped up in this 1980s Belk Christmas commercial.

Keep it real today.
