INJAZ Lebanon launches the first in a series of Innovation Camps

INJAZ Lebanon launched its first Innovation Camp for the academic year 2015-2016 on Saturday December 5, 2015 at the American University of Beirut Center for Civic Engagement and Community Support, thanks to the financial support of Citi Foundation, Citi’s social investment arm.

A total of 43 secondary school students gathered together with volunteers and representatives from Citibank for a one-day action-packed event. Citibank challenged the students to find innovative solutions to address a real business challenge. Read More

Training 273 teen-agers to Be Entrepreneurial

A total of 273 students, aged between 15-16 years, learned about the basics steps for launching a successful start-up through the Be Entrepreneurial program sponsored by Bank of New York Mellon (BNYM). Volunteers from Bank Audi, Deloitte, Grant Thornton, Oracle, and Tripoli Entrepreneurs Club along with other independent professionals mentored students in Beirut Mount Lebanon and Tripoli throughout this exciting program. Entrepreneurship Education starts early!

435 children aged 12-13 participate in the It’s My Business program in Fall 2015 thanks to Master Card

With the support of MasterCard, a total of 435 students aged 12-13 years participated in the It’s My Business program during the last trimester of 2015 bringing the total to 916 students for the year, and learned about the entrepreneurial characteristics and skills needed to start a new business.

Several corporate volunteers from Bank Audi and Aramex as well as independent professionals offered a series of 16 classes across Beirut, Mount Lebanon and Tripoli. Participating schools were Al Tadrib Al Tarbawi School for Girls, Al Tall Al Jadida Public School, Andre Nahas Public School for Girls, Antonine International School, Shakib Arslan Public School, and Sin El Fil Public School.

And these things really benefit us more than what we usually learn because it teaches us how to build a successful future and improve our financial situation." Ahmad Hamoud, Student, 13 years old, Shakib Arslan School.

HSBC renews its commitment to support financial literacy education for the 8th consecutive year

Teaching financial basics to children at an early age helps them establish a strong and life-long foundation for financial skills, not only benefiting them as individuals but also aiding the country’s economy as a whole by helping develop financially aware citizens.

Thanks to the support of HSBC Bank, sponsor of the More Than Money program, INJAZ was able to teach 305 students aged between 11-12 years about the key financial concepts such as: earning, spending, sharing and saving money in a responsible way. The program was implemented during the fall of 2015 in five schools across Beirut, Mount Lebanon and Tripoli with the help of corporate volunteers from Aramex, Bank Audi, HSBC and other independent professionals.

Youth from Ruwwad Al Tanmeya in Tripoli participate in Steer Your Career

Steer Your Career program, sponsored by MetLife, helps university students have a smooth transition between the educational world and their professional life by providing them with practical employability skills.
During December 20 youth from Ruwwad Al Tanmeya in Tripoli participated in the program working on a range of skills including verbal and written communication, problem solving, preparing a resume and performing well during a job interview. The program was delivered by UTOPIA professional volunteers over 2 days that included very interactive sessions with case studies, online assessments and role plays.

Farewell not Goodbye

Skills4Life, coming to an end…

After two years of hard work, the Skills4Life project, funded by the European Union and providing 1000 Palestinian children and youth aged between 8-16 years with vital education and self-development opportunities, came to an end in December 2015.

It has been a great experience collaborating on this project with our two main partners the Welfare Association and Unite Lebanon Youth Project. INJAZ Lebanon is also very grateful to its corporate partners Aramex, Gezairi, Grant Thornton, 2Gem and the many independent professional that have supported this very important project. Read more

As part of their 2016 CSR campaign, Meker joins hands with INJAZ Lebanon to empower Lebanon’s youth and help build the next generation of professionals and entrepreneurs. Meker, a leading manufacturer of kitchens and wardrobes in Lebanon, believes that investing now in the youth of Lebanon will plant the seeds for a strong and successful new generation of professional that will support the country as a whole. We thank Meker for their belief in INJAZ Lebanon’s mission by pledging some of their proceeds to help build the capacity of a growing number of youth in Lebanon preparing them for a successful future.

Banque du Liban Accelerate 2015

For the second consecutive year, INJAZ Lebanon participated in the Banque du Liban Accelerate 2015 Conference that was held at the Beirut Forum on 10-11 December, 2015.

Banque du Liban Accelerate 2015 is Lebanon’s annual international startup conference, and officially the largest international startup conference in the Middle East and North Africa region, with over 7,000 attendees. We were happy to meet everyone who visited our stand and showed their interest to join our beloved INJAZ volunteer community.
