Want to increase student fruit consumption?
Try placing a fruit bowl at the cash register as an additional purchase opportunity. Varying the colors and types of fruit offered increased fruit selection by nine percent! April 23-27 Every Kid Healthy™ Week
Every Kid Healthy is not just a sentiment; it’s an annual week-long recognition of wellness achievements in school communities across the country! Action for Healthy Kids' sixth annual Every Kid Healthy Week is April 23-27. Celebrate by helping schools host fun and interactive health-promoting events. For more information on how to get involved and additional resources to help you plan an event, go to #EveryKidHealthy
HealthierUS School Challenge: Smarter Lunchrooms Award Program

The USDA Food and Nutrition Service will no longer be accepting applications for the HealthierUS School Challenge Award Program, effective July 1, 2018. USDA will continue to work with schools during this phase-out period and provide support as they close out the application process. Any applications submitted to State agencies by June 30, 2018, will be reviewed for approval. The USDA National Office will announce the final set of awards by December 31, 2018. Resources for Child Care Environments
Smarter Mealtimes is an adaptation of the SLM for child care environments. The SLM principles and concepts that result in increased selection and consumption of healthy food at school also simple and effective in child care settings. Find the scorecard and resources here.
Free nutrition education resource for parents! Healthy Eating for Your Young Child is an eight-page booklet provides parents of preschoolers with action steps to support them in raising healthy children through balanced food choices, physical activity, sleep and screen-time recommendations.
