Role Models in the Lunchroom

At Julia Morgan Elementary in Lodi Unified School District, Principal Coughlan is frequently seen eating the least popular lunch entree, demonstrating how much he enjoys it and encouraging students to “try it next time.” He is committed to encouraging students to try new foods and helping students establish healthier eating habits. Read the entire story.


Being a healthy role model is very important when trying to encourage students to eat healthy foods. Here is a tip sheet that can be used at parent nights, health fairs and anywhere to inspire individuals to be healthy role models. 
School staff can contribute to students recognition that school meals are delicious, nourishing, and a great choice for growing, active kids. Read more about this smarter lunchroom strategy: School Community Involvement.
