This fall, PRWIN collected personal seedling orders for our PRWIN 2022 Spring Seedling Program.

All recipients of the program will be responsible for picking up and planting the seedlings. If any seedlings are not picked up, they will be given to a participant on the waiting list. All participants of our program will be given notice in April informing them of our seedling pickup date and location.

David Piccini, Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks was joined on October 18th, 2021 by Lisa Thompson, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs to announce support for outreach, education and guidance to local farmers and other landowners to implement agricultural best practices, such as using plantings to reduce soil erosion and livestock stream crossings.
PRWIN was honoured to host the announcement for the ministers at the Point Clark Beach.
PRWIN Director Don Farrell represented PRWIN at the presentation by showcasing PRWIN projects and programs in our township and watershed

This fall, PRWIN Chairperson David Grant and PRWIN volunteers Jim and Christine Roberts offered their time and efforts to assist Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation with dune restoration in the Point Clark area.
They helped to plant dune grass and remove invasive plants on the beach.  Thank you for keeping our Great Lakes so great! Photos courtesy of Jim and Christine Roberts.

PRWIN had a light blanket of snow, to plant 200 white cedar at a land owners farm near Holyrood. A big thank you to the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority for the opportunity to plant seedlings in our watershed.  Also, thank you to our directors and community volunteers for your hard work to make sure the seedlings are in the ground!

PRWIN was presented with a $1,000 donation from Greenfield Global. The donation was made to PRWIN on behalf of Greenfield Global, as part of the Company Consumer Day, a day devoted to educating staff on how to be better consumers. The donation is set up by Greenfield Global's People & Culture committee to encourage employees to be green consumers. PRWIN Chairperson David Grant accepts the donation from Kathleen Ackert, QA Co-ordinator for Greenfield Global.

This fall, PRWIN planted a tree in memory of a young man in our community, Kevin Newman. Kevin's mother, Heather Newman is an active member of the Ripley Horticultural Society, a leader of the Ripley Youth Horticultural Club and a supportive member of the Ripley 4H Conservation Club. Heather's volunteer partnerships has developed outreach programs for our youth.  Kevin was an active member of the Ripley Youth Horticultural Club when the group started. To honour Kevin's life and to express our condolences to the Newman and Clifford families, PRWIN planted a tree at the McLarty Education Centre.

PRWIN had the opportunity to take part in The Façade Improvement & Patio Grant - Spruce The Bruce Program. The grant encourages office and businesses to restore and improve their building facades and to create a more attractive curb appeal. PRWIN had an exterior light and a window box installed. Thank you to Pollock Electric and Gary Moulton Construction of Ripley for taking on the project.

We would like to thank our community members for their donations in 2021 to support our non-profit organization. Our committee is grateful for their contributioms to support our upcoming projects and programs, as well as our mission of "Clean water and a healthy ecosystem within the Pine River Watershed."
