Spring has Sprung

Greetings Precious Family and Friends of Roy & Dora Whitman Academy!
Spring has sprung here in the Holy Land. Every morning we wake up to clear, blue skies, bird song, cool weather and green fields a ‘bloom with flowers.  It reminds me of that verse in the Old Testament that so accurately depicts this, “For lo, the winter is past. The rains are over and gone. The flowers have already appeared in the land; the time has arrived for pruning the vines, and the voice of the turtledove can be heard in the land” (Song of Solomon 2:11-12).

At Whitman, we are rejoicing in the near end of the rainy and cold season. Sitting outside in the cold and rain for chapel each week is no fun, no matter how grateful we are for the much needed rain!

We have just finished our first round of admissions review. This year, we have enough applicants for first grade and fourth grade to open 2 full classes.  Unfortunately, we only have room for one small class of each grade.  We ask you to keep praying for the miracle we need for larger facilities.

The Whitman Academy Players just finished their grand and glorious performance of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.  It was directed by our English teacher, Elizabeth Milne and a senior, Katie Masters. As usual, students were completely in charge of lights and sound and curtain management.  It’s always great to see our students taking such leadership and responsibility and shining so brightly!

This month, we want to congratulate Suzanne Harlan, the very first student ever registered at Whitman, class of 2002. She recently got engaged!  We are so happy for her. After graduating from Whitman, and going on to higher education, Suzanne spent time ministering in Sudan. Her parents, Mark and Christine Harlan, initiating parents of the school, also served with her there for a while.   She now resides in California and is working with a house of prayer.
Want to bless others, give back a bit and invest in the lives of future students? In September 26, 2017, we are participating in the ACSI Giving Day fund drive.  We will keep you posted with more details as the time approaches.
