Family Weekend 


October 2-4, 2015: Family Weekend offers a dynamic menu of activities for you and your Panther to enjoy together and make new memories! Highlights include the Pitt Arts Festival, live trivia, painting fun, and a spooktacular adventure at Kennywood Park. Registration closes Tuesday, September 22. Tickets are selling fast!

First-Year Student Involvement


Clayton Lyons, First Year Mentor, provides insight on guiding your student to Pitt opportunities that will positively shape their college experience. The Outside the Classroom Curriculum (OCC) gives a transcript of sorts that they can use to show future employers what they did during their time outside of the classroom!

Be A Good Neighbor

Help us help your off-campus students learn how to create community and celebrate their neighborhood with a Block Party! Two of this year’s four "Be A Good Neighbor" Block Parties were promoted and have already taken place in the North Oakland and Oakcliffe locations. The remaining two will be held at the following locations from 5:30-7:30 p.m.:
  • September 22:  1 Oakland Square (Oakland Square Parklet), serving Oakland Square, Dawson and Parkview section of Central Oakland
  • September 30:  294 Semple Street, serving core streets of Central Oakland, including Meyran, McKee, Louisa and Semple Streets

Fall Career Prep


Whether trying to select a major or uncovering future ambitions, The Office of Career Development and Placement Assistance (CDPA) offers an array of resources — from one-in-one consultations to insightful events. September programs includes Career Fair Prep Week (and the Fall 2015 Career Fair (Sept. 24). October welcomes back the Majors and Minors Expo (Oct. 7), as well as Internship Week (Oct. 5-9).

Safety First! Help us keep your students safe: The Department of Public Safety and Emergency Management provides the Pitt community with emergency updates, safety resources, and other preparedness information through our Emergency Preparedness website: emergency.pitt.edu. We encourage you to share this with your student. 
Residence Life Staff Create a Home Away from Home: Graduate intern Elana Benitez introduces the key staff members within your student's residence hall, and how they are instrumental to the transition of beginning or returning to college. 
"Pitt's Resident Assistants facilitate over 2,000 fun and educational programs a year!

National Scholarship Information Sessions begin at the end of the month: Students interested in pursuing national scholarships should start by attending a 30-minute general scholarship information session to learn the nuts and bolts about the numerous award opportunities and the application process.
