U10 girls receiving a team talk before the match against Altrincham FC
A great start to the season

As part of the South Manchester Girls football league, the Under 9s & 10s played their first games at Woodsend Park Centre at the beginning of October, and thoroughly enjoyed the games.
Even though only four teams turned up, a round robin competition was set up enabling each team to have three 18 minute games. The matches were kept within the constraints stipulated by the FA’s regulations of a maximum of one hour playing time, for 8 to 10 year-olds.
Other clubs have shown a lot of interest, and we are expecting more teams to join in over the next few weeks.
Once sufficient numbers of teams have been established, various competitions will be run, as well as the round robin games, we hope to run development games, a ladder competition - where the girls can choose who they want to play against, a Champions League competition, subject to numbers, and any other competitions that we can fit in within the FA’s permitted rules.

With the help of Manchester County FA and the Manchester United Foundation we also hope to compete in some indoor football events.

Under 10s match report
Saturday 10 October
The girls turned up in force on Saturday 10 October, alongside coach Patrick Moran. Although there should have been four teams, our plucky under 10s were left to face only Altrincham FC again, as two teams did not show.

Unperturbed by their 9-1 defeat against this team two weeks earlier, our under 10s started the match in fine form. Their formation was rigid, and the defence of Annie, Thea and Kitty stood strong and denied their opponents several goal scoring opportunities with some nifty footwork and some fine tackling.

At the other end of the pitch Sophie and Chloe were quick to capitalise on through balls from defence and midfield, but struggled to score in the first half.
The midfield players, Maddie, Imogen, Josephine and Sylvie gave as good as they got, and intercepted some forward passes from the other team, as well as providing some great balls to the team's strikers.

Goalkeeper, Ava, made some great saves, but the Altrincham girls made space and were able to score once in the first half.

The second half saw the girls keep their shape and momentum, and this resulted in a goal from Annie. Altrincham went on to score twice more, taking the score to 3-1, but our girls can be proud of themselves for holding form throughout the match, and playing some great football.

The girls showed tremendous grit and determination, and we have now had a taste of their fantastic skills. Here's to the next fixture!
Under 10s match report
Saturday 17 October
Last Saturday saw our girls up against Stockport County Ladies U10s and, once again, Altrincham FC.

Timperley Villa played well scoring four goals in the match against Stockport. They controlled the game until the end, when Stockport briefly threatened a comeback with two late goals.

Altrincham again had better organisation and have a few outstanding players, and the difference in experience was evident, allowing them to win 3-0. Altrincham are setting the benchmark in these current round of fixtures.
We have ordered ‘poppies for kits’ for teams playing matches over the weekend of 7/8 November, and we hope that you will be happy to make a donation towards the cost. They cost £1 each for us to buy, with 50 pence going to the Royal British Legion.

Thank you!
We have several parents that give their time to support the back room.

copper media were the original sponsor for the girls' football kit, and many of the girls' shirts are emblazoned with their logo. As we move towards winter it would be nice to see the U10 girls team arrive in a Timperley Villa hoody or, if your company would like to sponsor the cost of the tops which would have your company name across, please contact Gary.
