Build Reuse is looking for a few more members to join our Board of Directors. As we are currently entirely volunteer-run, Build Reuse depends on the board take on key responsibilities to keep the organization going. We're especially interested in filling spots focused on fundraising, finance, social media and engagement, policy, and legal -- but we welcome anyone with an interest in fulfilling our organization's mission! If you're interested in contributing your skills to the board and would like to know more, please reach out to info@buildreuse.org.

DON Launches Deconstruction-and-Reuse Program

This year, Disability Options Network (DON) launched ReClaim!, a deconstruction and reuse company in Western Pennsylvania. DON is a consumer-controlled, nonprofit organization that empowers people with disabilities to live as independently as they choose, and that advocates for disability rights issues, skills training, peer support, de-institutionalization, and information and referral services.

Reclaim! is part of DON's community reclamations program and aims to accomplish two goals: salvaging building materials for affordable use by the community and creating 'green'  jobs in deconstruction and reuse retail.

Reuse in the News

The New York Circular City Initiative brings together representatives from city agencies, multinational corporations to reimagine New York’s economic systems. Since the COVID-19 crisis began, the scope is expanding to identify the role that a circular New York City can have in supporting the city’s recovery.

Next week, the initiative will launch publicly with a report that

  • defines the case for circularity for NYC

  • identifies levers for change that have the potential to transform New York into a circular city

  • defines actions that the city, businesses and financial institutions can take to support the transition to circularity.

The report will be launched October 1st through a free webinar.
