This week, music streamer Spotify hit 1m unique users in India within just a week of launching its service in the nation. Liberty Global is ramping up on-demand content available to its pay TV services, adding a new Asian content apps pack to Virgin Media in the UK and adding seven channels to UPC's catch-up offering in Slovakia. UK broadcaster Channel 5 has partnered with Israeli TV operator HOT to add some original Israeli content to its catch-up service My5, marking the first addition of non-English language content to the Viacom-owned channel's service.

Comcast-owned Sky has launched its TV offering as a streaming-only service in Austria, dubbed Sky X. Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo has also partnered with Disney to offer Disney content on its upcoming streaming service, pegged for launch later this month.

In the UK, Scottish broadcaster STV has also added additional content to its catch-up service, shortly after launching an ad-free tier for its service, priced at £3.99 per month, while the Football Association (FA) has launched England's first official eSports team, the eLions.

In acquisitions, Viacom has closed its $340m acquisition of ad-funded video streamer Pluto TV, while media group Vivendi has sold its remaining shares in gaming company Ubisoft after an unsuccessful acquisition attempt.
