Netflix is to grow the volume of originals its makes in Europe and says it plans to commission some African content next year. It is also reportedly in talks to use Pinewood Studios near London as its UK production hub. Amazon is hot on its heels with plans for its own production hub, with reports suggesting Madrid—where Netflix opened up shop in July—is firmly in its sights. Warner has shed some light on its streaming service, pegged for launch next year, saying it will offer three tiers, ranging from a mostly movie package to a more comprehensive TV + movies offering.

Both Netflix and Amazon have been busy forging more partnerships with pay TV operators in Europe; French operator Free is bundling Netflix into subscriber bundles with its new set-top-box and Telecom Italia has integrated Amazon Prime into its domestic TIMVision box.

UEFA has confirmed a new soccer competition to launch in 2021, currently dubbed Europa League 2. Online community Reddit, which launched native video uploads in August 2017, says it is already racking up 1.4bn video views a month.

Netherlands-based media group Altice has sold its stake in French operator SFR's fibre-to-the-home business for €1.8bn, while US channel group Nexstar is hoping to acquire fellow group Tribune Media in a deal valued at $4.1bn.
