How's the market?

Sales Activity
Sales activity experienced an expansion over the week with REIWA members reporting an increase in weekly sales to 691. The overall six per cent rise in weekly sales is attributed to an eight per cent increase in sales for houses and a six per cent increase in vacant land sales, despite unit sales decreasing by five per cent over the week.

Listings for Sale
Total properties listed for sale fell by two per cent over the week to 14,828. Listings for houses and units both fell by two and three per cent respectively whilst vacant land listings increased by a marginal one per cent.

The total number of listings recorded this week is a marginal one per cent higher in comparison to four weeks ago, however is three per cent lower compared to the same time last year.

Rental market
Turning to the rental market, REIWA members reported total properties available for rent remained stable over the week at 10,464.
This is one per cent higher than levels seen four weeks ago and remains 7 per cent higher than the same time last year.

The vacancy rate for March 2017 is a high 6.7%.
