This year, you participated in an e-mental health (eMH) training program conducted by QUT as part of the eMHPrac project. As you may recall eMHPrac (e-Mental Health in Practice) is a Commonwealth funded program rolling out e-mental health training to Allied Health Practitioners, GPs and service providers working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Feedback on the eMH training has been positive and we hope that you've been able to incorporate e-mental health resources, tools and strategies into their practice. However, that training workshop was only the beginning as we know that training and support needs to be on-going within an organisation for a new system or approaches to be fully embraced. In order for this to happen it is critical to have local champions on the ground within an organisation who are well-versed in eMH and who can be there for on-going support and training for other staff within their service.
As part of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander e-Mental Health Training Package being developed for the Department of Health, we are looking to pilot our Train the Trainer package for key staff within organisations in Far North Queensland. The outcome of the training would be mutually beneficial in that your organisation would have a staff member who was TRAINED to train others in eMH and therefore embed eMH into your organisation. From our end, we hope to obtain feedback from trainers on the training package, it’s effectiveness, and any changes or refinements they would consider beneficial.
To this end, we’re looking for people interested in becoming e-mental health ‘champions’ - to train and support other workers in the use of eMH within the workplace. The training would take place over 3 days (2 of which would be consecutive days) - probably in March 2016. People need not have previously attended eMH training with us, so if you know of anyone else this might interest, please feel free to forward this email to them.
This is a useful professional development opportunity and we will provide each participant who completes the training with a eMH Trainer certificate.
If you could please take the time to discuss this opportunity with your manager and respond at your earliest convenience, it would be most appreciated.
