  Joint Programming Newsletter

Joint Programming is a research and innovation policy concept driven by societal challenges. Its aim is to tackle grand societal challenges through more efficient use of resources, by the alignment of funding at national level and through decreasing fragmentation in the European Research Area (ERA). There are ten Joint Programming Initiatives (JPIs), for an overview see our joint programming website. This monthly newsletter provides in a nutshell up-to-date information for scientists, (research) policy actors, and other stakeholders.
Newsletter 1 September 2015

About us

The JPI & ERA-NET Account led by Christine Bunthof of the division Wageningen International at Wageningen UR (University and Research centre) follows ERA policy and strategy, the Joint Programming Initiatives and ERA-NET (Cofund) Actions, specifically those in the areas of the bioeconomy, food, and the blue and green environment. Information is shared through website, newsletter, social media, and seminars. We support the liaison on the national as well as the European level. Moreover, we coordinate the European platform of bioeconomy ERA-NET Actions, lead alignment activities and other coordination work within FACCE JPI Secretariat, and are involved in organising ERA-NET Cofund programmes.

Editorial

As the content manager of the joint programming website, social media and this newsletter, I feel comfortable with the news articles, event announcements and call activities, delivered and spread by the 10 JPI's in the field of climate change, food supply, a healthy ageing of citizens, etc. Even short before and during the summer time, several activities were organised by the different JPI's and important news was released. JPI Climate has got interesting news for the Wageningen UR researchers. Joint call information and a call implementation instruction is being announced in this newsletter and workshops, which soon will be held. From the ERA-Net part of the JPI&ERA-NET Account of the division Wageningen International you may have interest in the outcomes of the Master Class for the ERA-NET project managers which was organised with the focus on lessons learned from the first Cofunds. The first item of this newsletter is an interview with Dr Louis Fliervoet. We welcome your feedback, suggestions and more news at jointprogramming@wur.nl.
Enjoy reading and have a good after summer and working period!
Fokke de Jong, Wageningen International, Wageningen UR
