Dig Deeper Sermon Series
Sunday 01/16/22 - Week 3

The Church 16:18
What is Dig Deeper?
Yes!  Dig Deeper is the "buzz word" at Westside these days. First, it's a Sunday sermon series. Second, the program not only offers other in-person opportunities during the  week; there are also various ways to take advantage of the material through Westside's streaming services etc.

You may ask how we will Dig Deeper in regards to our commitment to God and our community?  or.... How do I church?  Just join us at one of the Worship Services at Westside each Sunday from now thru January 23rd.  During these services we will look into answering the above questions and many more. The Dig Deeper  Series will help each of us grow in our understanding of ways to follow God’s guidance in our lives. It's also possible that as you Dig Deeper  you'll uncover new ways to serve God and His people.
By the way....if you're just now wanting to be part of this, don't worry. The Sunday Sermons and other material and information are available through Westside's web page.  If you still can't find the information you need, just email Pastor Tim at .

You are also invited to attend
Discovering Westside  (If you missed the most recent class on Jan.12th another one will be offered in the near future.)

2) Discover Your Spiritual Gifts.

      Wednesday, January 19th 6:30-8:00pm
This class, taught by Ryan Stockton, will offer a chance to take a
Spiritual Gifts Inventory, and then discuss the results along with others from the church.
To sign up please email  Pastor Tim at
The class will meet in the office building north of the main building.
Luncheon & Ministry Fair
After the second service on Sunday, January 23rd,  all are invited to join us for a complimentary luncheon. We'll gather by the large tree in the church's playground at approx 11:30 am. Sandwiches, chips, and drinks will be provided.

It is suggested that all take time to stroll around Westside's
Ministry Fair and get to know some of  Westside's Team Leaders who oversee the various ministries of the church.  This event will give all a wonderful chance to find out how to get more involved in what Westside has going on!

I recently went through a series of courses on an approach to life. It was a way of thinking and communicating.  One of the concepts that stuck with me was about perspective.
We all have a view of the world around us. Many times, it is focused on the things that make an immediate impact to us. Our jobs, or families, the bills we have to pay, that guy that just cut us off take center stage. We place ourselves at the center with this lens.  It is narrow and hyper-focused.

Many times, when I drove to work I'd arrive at a particular intersection.  More often than not, I was focused on getting through the light or simply focused on the car in front of me. My lens was specific and narrow.  I was so intent; I couldn't see the beautiful blue sky or the trees that I had seen grow from saplings to mature shade trees. Beyond my narrow angle was a wide-angle lens filled with God's beauty and joy.
Shift your perspective and take a wide-angle view ... no longer get lost in the minutiae of the day but now be blown away by the glory of God's creation. It won’t take our problems and challenges away, but it sure shifts perspective.  Joy has a way of washing over us with a wide-angle lens.
Psalm 96 11-12 says, "Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy."
All of God's creation was built for beauty and joy. Don’t miss it with a narrow lens. We have been made for more.  Zoom out and get a better view.  God's beauty and joy is on full display through His creation.

Be blessed and be a blessing

"Thank you, Ashley Bratcher, for sharing your beautiful story and standing for TRUTH!
Repost from Ashley Bratcher
This is me when I was 14 weeks pregnant with my son. At just 14 weeks my little boy’s heart was beating, a sound that made my own skip a beat every time I heard it. He was about the size of a lemon, his tiny arms, hands, fingers, feet, and toes were fully formed. His face had begun making expressions and his little kicks started to flutter in my belly. My BABY is now 11. He was just as human then as he is now. I can’t imagine my life without him.
All of that doesn’t mean it wasn’t scary. It was. I had so many fears. I was unmarried, jobless on wic, and Medicaid. I struggled to find a good job when I found out. I bartended all the way through my 2nd trimester just before being put on bed rest. I was really scared. I was young and didn’t know if I could be a good mom, but I was also determined. I knew that despite my fears, the child inside me deserved the chance to live and I was going to do everything in my power to give him a chance at the best life I could.
If you’re scared, if it wasn’t planned, and you don’t know what to do… there is help and hope. You will never regret having your child. You can live a full, meaningful, and successful life as a mother. Please believe and know that there are people within your community and pregnancy help centers all over the world that will stand by you every step of the way, and not just until you have your baby. There are resources for you. Your life and that little one growing inside you have purpose. You are so loved.
Today is important for so many reasons. It stems from a place of love, not hate. As the pro-life movement gains momentum and the younger generation steps up to the plate, I pray that every mother experiencing an unplanned pregnancy is met with love right where she is."

Although our Pastor seeks, as I do,  to live according to the Bible where one "...does not boast" about our deeds."
However I feel moved to share Verta Mills' Thank You to our Lead Pastor, Tim Boyd

For many, many years Westside has provided space in the building for the "Helping Hands" Ministry. Over the years the folks from many areas have sewn, knitted, crocheted etc. clothing, quilts and other items. These were then distributed to many local facilities such as foster homes and nursing homes. Some of the items were even  given to the needy in other states.

Recently, since Verta Mills was the only member remaining in this group, this ministry was disbanded. Verta, who believes that many times people are not properly acknowledged, requested me to  publish her thank you to our Lead Pastor, Tim Boyd, for his willingness to assist,
by himself, with clearing out the space at WCC used by this Ministry.  Not only did Tim help to disassemble items, he also hauled and loaded all the supplies etc. into our Russ Bus.  He then delivered it all to Gene and Verta's garage. Other volunteers will make sure the items will be distributed accordingly.

Let us all rejoice that God has gifted us with a pastor with a "servant's heart". One who lives by the Bible's teachings.
"You will lead by a completely different model. The greatest one among you will live as the one who is called to serve others, because the greatest hono
r and authority is reserved for the one with the heart of a servant."

Matthew 20: 26-27
WCC's  Men's League softball team is open for men of any age. If you are at all interested in joining (and/or to check out our skill level😉) please come out to the practice on Sunday, January 23,2022 at 12:30pm-2:30pm at
G.T. Bray Park (5502 33rd Avenue Drive West, Bradenton)

You are ideal to join this team especially if your personal motto is "Dress for the player you want to be." Looks the part—are those batting gloves?!—and talks the part—"Two down, boys! Play is at any base. Look alive!".  If you are never one to let reality get in the way of his dreams and, by God, he's not going to start now. 😄

It's great fun for the players and the folks who come to cheer them on.
Games are typically Mondays and Fridays and run from February - April. Cost is around $35. There's more info to come. Questions now? Please call or text Randy at 941.799.1652   Play Ball!
We are so lucky that this February 6th event is at our church. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to be gifted with with smiles and laughs amidst a great group of people while supporting a worthy cause.
