Spring Into Action

With your input over the last several years, we at Montanans for Healthy Rivers have drafted the Montana Headwaters Security Act, which would protect 37 new headwater rivers and streams in Montana as Wild and Scenic. If you've been to a film tour show or opened an email from us over the last month, you've probably heard of it. If this your first time, that's cool too.

In order to get this legislation introduced in Congress, we need everyone who cares about the future of Montana's rivers to take action now. Several of us are traveling to DC this week to sit down with our congressional delegates and talk shop about the Montana Headwaters Security Act. Your voice of support to the delegation today and over the next couple of days will set us up for a successful visit. Spare a minute of your day to make a call, send an email here, or click the "Take Action" button below. No action is too small to help protect our precious rivers!
Take Action
Add New Contact

In case these guys aren't already in your contacts list, here's a quick reference for that phone call you're about to make:

Senator Jon Tester: (202)224-2644
Senator Steve Daines: (202)224-2651
Rep. Greg Gianforte: (202)225-3211
Talking Points
  1. Introduce yourself - your name and where you are from.
  2. State why rivers in Montana are important to you.
  3. Ask them to introduce the Montana Headwaters Security Act which will ensure our best streams are protected from future threats.
Email Made Easy
If the idea of calling an elected official (or their staff) gives you anxiety, fret not. We've made it super easy to send an email that you can personalize if you choose. With one click you can let all three members of the Montana delegation know that you support introduction of the Montana Headwaters Security Act.
Watch our friend and fly fishing guide Hilary Hutcheson from Columbia Falls, advocate for the Montana Headwaters Security Act while making her morning coffee. It's that quick and easy to call our elected officials in DC.
Speak Up For The Smith
Are you concerned that the proposed Black Butte copper mine will irreparably harm the Smith River? Public comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement are due to the Montana DEQ by May 10. Join us anytime from 5-8 p.m. on May 6 in either Bozeman or Missoula for help in writing comments. A brief overview will be presented at 6 p.m, and free pizza and beer will be provided!
