Free-Flowing & Clean

It’s been 40 years since the U.S. Congress passed legislation to protect a Montana stream under the Wild & Scenic Rivers Act. For people who cherish Montana’s rivers for their recreation, scenery, fish, wildlife, and contribution to our state’s economy, that’s 40 years too long!

Help us end this long-standing legislative drought.

The East Rosebud Wild & Scenic Rivers Act is poised for passage in Congress in Washington D.C. but time is running out. Only weeks remain before Congress concludes for the year. With support already secured from Montana’s full U.S. Congressional delegation, it’s time to bring national attention to the value of the East Rosebud Creek in the Beartooth Mountains. You can help!

Please take a few minutes to contact Senators and Congressmen across the country and ask them to pass the East Rosebud Wild & Scenic Rivers Act. Tell them that river protection supports Montana’s economy and heritage. Below is a list of important decision makers. Please make a few phone calls:

Talking Points to Congress
"I’m calling to ask you to support the passage of the East Rosebud Wild & Scenic Rivers Act by the close of 2016.

East Rosebud Creek is one of Montana’s most scenic rivers and provides important habitat for fish and wildlife, as well as incredible recreation opportunities that contribute to Montana’s $5.8 billion recreation economy.

The East Rosebud Wild & Scenic Rivers Act has nearly 100% support from land owners in the region and has the full support of Montana’s U.S. Congressional delegation.

Please include the East Rosebud Wild & Scenic Rivers Act (Bill #'s S.1577/H.R.2787) with a final energy bill or appropriations package and pass this bill during the 114th Congress. Thank you for your support."
For further information on ways to support passage of the East Rosebud Wild & Scenic Rivers Act please call the Greater Yellowstone Coalition (406) 556-2817 or American Rivers (406) 600-4061.
