Mini Mid-Year Goal Check In ✨💅🏾

I meant to do this over the summer, but better late than never, right? Check out my Year in Review for a quick refresher, then peep the status update below:
Quick Key:
  • Slayed = Already accomplished. Things I can cross off the list.
  • In Progress = Goals that are in the course of being carried out or scheduled for future completion.
  • Recalculating = Goals that I’m reassessing between now and the end of the year. Recently I’ve been reflecting on my own ideas of productivity: How much of my achievement-oriented outlook stems from my innate scrappiness? How might that outlook be a perversion of capitalist values? Or a desire to assert my worth while living in systems that constantly devalue black queer women? (More on this in my 2017 Year-In-Review). Idk the answers to those questions, but these goals will likely be adjusted pending exploration.

ICYMI: Hive Soul Yoga Lean the F*ck Out Interview 💪🏾✨

Chanelle and I were recently interviewed on Lean the F*ck Out, a podcast about women entrepreneurs. Click here to listen! Here’s a blurb about the epi:

This week on the podcast, we talk with entrepreneurs Chanelle and Simone John, founder and chief creative officer respectively of Hive Soul Yoga. Hive Soul Yoga is a community-based business in Boston, MA that aims to make yoga accessible to people of all shades, sizes, ages, abilities, and identities. Specifically, the woman, who are advocates for people of color outside of yoga too, have built a space of healing and safety for people of color in their community. The two talk about the journey they’ve had in building the studio and finding ways to grow their classes, bootstrapping on their own and without going to business school. Their advice to other entrepreneurs is “Have confidence in your vision and keep going. You have what it takes.”
