Holiday Open House
Saturday, December 12th from 1-4 pm, Free
The West Baton Rouge Museum will hold its annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 12 from 1 – 4 p.m. complete with live performances, refreshments, ornament making, and more.

Festivities begin at 1 p.m. with a special performance by Grammy Award Winner Michael Doucet of BeauSoleil, one of the most well-known bands performing traditional and original music rooted in the folk tunes of Creole Louisiana. BeauSoleil tours extensively in the U.S. and internationally. This special performance is made possible by Manship on the Move with a grant from Union Pacific Railroad.

Following from 2 – 4 p.m., enjoy an afternoon filled with holiday music, warm cider and gingerbread, and lots of activities designed for the young and young at heart. In celebration of our current exhibition, “A Charlie Brown Christmas Turns 50” marking a half a century of this animated classic, there will be Charlie Brown inspired craft making, a scene from the play, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” performed by Spotlight Performing Arts Academy and cartooning fun with the Baton Rouge Cartoonist Society. In keeping with tradition, the museum will also have holiday themed tours of the museum’s exhibits and historic houses including a vintage tableau performance inside the c. 1830 Aillet House, a visit with Papa Noel, and everyone’s favorite “Find the Elves” scavenger hunt on the museum grounds. 


The West Baton Rouge Museum will be closed on Thursday, December 24th, Friday, December 25th, Saturday, December 26th, and Friday, January 1st for the holidays.
