Sweets Contest at the West Baton Rouge Museum's SUGARFEST
Have you ever wanted to enter your grandmother's cake recipe in an old-fashioned sweets contest? Or what about those treasured cookie and candy recipes? Well, here's your chance! The West Baton Rouge Historical Association is hosting a Sweets Contest at the West Baton Rouge Museum's annual SugarFest, a sweet celebration of the sugarcane harvest on Sunday, October 5, 2014, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. Entry forms are available at the West Baton Rouge Museum located at 845 N. Jefferson Avenue in Port Allen and online at Please carefully review contest rules, and then get cooking, sugar!
Annual Halloween Event
October 17th, 6pm - 9pm
The West Baton Rouge Parish Library, the West Baton Rouge Museum, and the Port Allen Community Center are promising tricks, treats and terribly fun activities and entertainment for Halloween revelers, young and old, on Friday evening, October 17th from 6 – 9 p.m. offers story-telling, trick or treating and a magic show! All are welcome to come in costume and encouraged to bring goodie bags for collecting sweet treats and blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the evening’s festivities. This entire evening of events is free and open to the public.
