Holiday Open House at the West Baton Rouge Museum
Sunday, December 7th from 2pm to 4pm

Come celebrate Christmas at the West Baton Rouge Museum, SundayDecember 7 from 2 – 4 p.m. What better way to end the year than with a truly Louisiana themed Holiday Open House with all the trimmings. Enjoy the warm open hearth fragrances coming from the Allendale Cabin and watch open hearth cooking demonstrations. Visit the historic Aillet House and watch a traditional 19th century holiday tableaux. Santa’s Workshop will be open with hands-on craft activities and book signings featuring local authors Addie and Jeremy Martin, Southeast Louisiana Food: A Seasoned Tradition.

Performers include Jim and James Linden Hogg, Judy Whitney Davis, Claudette Purnell and the All Parish Choir, Creole Woman and Les Bons Sons.

Back by popular demand: Children are welcome to help Papa Noel find his mischievous elves hiding all around the grounds at the West Baton Rouge Museum. Kids with their accompanying adults have loads of fun sleuthing around the museum’s gardens, barn and grounds looking for clues, elf-size foot prints, cookie crumbs, half-finished toys, coal nuggets in pairs of sabot, and other historical evidence to discover the elves’ hiding places.  The tiny ponies will be here to take the children on a ride of the grounds from a different viewpoint.

Bring your cameras and take pictures with Papa Noel, his wife and his elves while listening to traditional holiday music and enjoying hot apple cider and gingerbread.
This event is FREE and open to the public.
