What's Inside?

Chris Summers - Food Photography

Speaker at the monthly club meeting on November 2nd, 2020

Chris Summers moved to Houston in 1980 after graduating with a degree in Commercial Photography from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California. He owned and operated Chris Summers Photography for 30 years in the Rice Village area of Houston. The studio handled a variety of clients from the typical corporate and oil & gas to finance, banking and real estate. He also specialized in retail catalog work as well as food photography and executive portraiture.

He gives a lot of credit to his father inspiring him to pursue his career in photography, "Dad was always taking pictures with his old Argus C3 camera, the family would gather quite often for slide shows in our home. Dad bought me my first camera in 1970, a Minolta SRT 101".

In 2010 Chris decided to put his business on hold to help take care of his elderly parents and in 2012 he retired. He and his wife, Sarah live in Kingwood and have 8 children between them and 21 grandchildren and their first great-grandchild due in April next year. And with such a large family he finds himself taking a lot of photographs of children these days! He and his wife traveled extensively (pre-Covid) and he is always busy taking pictures and documenting places they go and the things they see. As an extension of his travel-related photography he found himself doing a lot of food photography at restaurants the ate in.

Calendar 2020

miniSIG Nikon Z Mirrorless

Our "mini SIG" group of TWCC members using Nikon Z mirrorless cameras (Z50, Z6, Z7) have continued to meet on Zoom during the current restrictions.

Our 14 members join virtually as we discuss camera settings, lens choices, and other useful information. We will continue to meet virtually at least monthly to learn more about our specific cameras.

If you are shooting with a Nikon Z camera or know someone else who is, let us know. We’d love for you or your friend to join our group!

miniSIG Canon R Mirrorless

A new group is forming for the Canon R mirrorless series. We have three members now, and are eager to have you join us if you own (or plan to own) one of these cameras!

Please email if you are interested!

Mentor Program

Each month many TWCC members share their knowledge and time both informally and formally as “mentors” to other club members. It may be by e-mail, phone, or even in person at different locations around The Woodlands.

Learning from a friend or neighbor is one of the best experiences in a club like ours. To see who’s available to help you grow your photo skills visit

The Woodlands United Methodist Church
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever

23rd Psalm
