Your dues are important!

They pay for honorariums to our wonderful speakers, for Camera Club equipment and for special opportunities offered by our sponsoring church and for our club.

March is the last month that you can renew your membership
in order to remain on our private Facebook page, in our Membership Directory, and be able to take field trips and workshops!

IMPORTANT:
The Woodlands United Methodist Church is like a small city! Please do NOT send your dues directly to the church. If you cannot make it to the March meeting to pay, please email us at info@TheWoodlandsCameraClub.org and we will be very happy to help you.

Shoot & Share

Please send in your photos (maximum of 3) by

Friday midnight, February 28th (no later!)

You do not need to resize them. If you do resize your large photos, the long side should be at least 1920 pixels in order to fill the screen.

Please send your files to Photos@TheWoodlandsCameraClub.org

At the meeting, briefly please tell us
(1) why you chose these photos,
(2) where you took them, and
(3) mention any special camera or editing techniques that you used.

Remember: This is not a contest. We are not looking for professional shots. We just want to get to know you better through your pictures!

Activities Schedule

The Woodlands Camera Club activity committee is currently planning a fun and exciting list of events for 2020.

March 8th (Sunday)

We plan on joining other photographers from TWPC on Sunday the 8th of March to carpool then walk the campus of Rice University and try to find as many ‘secret symbols, mysterious mix-ups and elaborate pranks’ as allowed. We will then venture to the James Turrell Skyspace on the campus to experience the light show that takes place every night of the year. For those wanting to grab a bite to eat afterwards we will go to a local restaurant at the neighboring Rice Village. Only cost will be for dinner afterwards and a few $$ to compensate your driver for gas and tolls and parking fees.

  • Leaving the UMC facility at 3:00 PM by carpool and should be returning after 9 PM unless you venture out to capture the Houston skyline.
  • Signup sheets will be available at our next monthly meeting in March.
  • Remember to click the below link and arrive at the University ready to find these and others opportunities.

April 5th (Sunday)

We plan on joining other photographers from TWPC on Sunday for a private 90min ‘Buffalo Bayou Boat Tour’ starting at 4:00PM. For those wanting to stay a little longer we may venture out along Allen Parkway to photograph the Houston downtown skyline. The private tour accommodates 20 individuals and will cost $25 per person. We need to secure our reservation with a guaranteed full boat or the costs goes up per person to satisfy the $500 tour fee so invite your spouse and grandchildren to come along with you.

  • Leaving the UMC facility at 2:30 PM by carpool and should be returning after 7PM unless you venture out to capture the Houston skyline.
We are no longer taking reservations for this as we are full and have a few others already signed up for back-up if needed.

May 2nd (Saturday)

We plan on utilizing the UMC van to observe and photograph the various birds located at "Smith Oaks Bird Sanctuary – Rookery". We will stop for lunch on the way back to The Woodlands.

  • More details will be finalized in March.

Working on details of a swamp tour out of Orange TX.

See Facebook Group for updates

Reference the Facebook page frequently for upcoming minis throughout the month. We would also like to encourage each member of this group to post a note on the board if you decide to venture out and explore the town or region and are looking to invite other members to travel with you.

Examples of potential mini’s: Mercer Arboretum / Spring Wildflowers etc..

Please note

This year the Activity Committee with the approval of TWCC leadership team has changed the way we are collecting fees. You will need to provide us the monies required per activity to sign up. If you are not able to attend the days event you can either donate to the organization the fee that you paid or find a substitute participant to take your place and collect the monies that they were going to need to pay.

Mentor Program

Each month many TWCC members share their knowledge and time both informally and formally as “mentors” to other club members. It may be by e-mail, phone, or even in person at different locations around The Woodlands.

Learning from a friend or neighbor is one of the best experiences in a club like ours. To see who’s available to help you grow your photo skills visit

The Woodlands United Methodist Church
The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.

He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—

children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:9-14
