JT Thomas – Light Painting

Speaker at the monthly club meeting on October, 7th 2019
JT Thomas is a serious amateur photographer who enjoys the art of photography. He has been taking photos since the middle ‘70s and likes taking travel, nature, architectural, and …..oh, who are we kidding? He enjoys taking pictures of anything!
He also likes learning new concepts and techniques and passing that knowledge off to others. JT Thomas is now retired from Chevron where he worked as an IT Security Strategist.

A bit about Light Painting:

There are several types of light painting and the type he will be covering is where you are taking photos in the dark, leaving the shutter open for 30 seconds or more and using hand-held lights to accent the areas of the photo you would like to bring out. This is done with the camera on a tripod.
He will also be covering some of the techniques to get additional detail in post processing of the photos.

Mentor Program

Each month many TWCC members share their knowledge and time both informally and formally as “mentors” to other club members. It may be by e-mail, phone, or even in person at different locations around The Woodlands.

Learning from a friend or neighbor is one of the best experiences in a club like ours. To see who’s available to help you grow your photo skills visit

The Woodlands United Methodist Church
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;

rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:5-11
