Paul Gregg – Tweaking our Trips

Avoiding "Death by PowerPoint"

Speaker at the monthly club meeting on June, 3rd 2019

Paul Gregg is an avid, advanced amateur photographer with a strong interest in bird, wildlife and travel/landscape photography.

He retired from the Adult Probation Department of Harris Co., TX and from a little over 29 years in the U. S. Air Force. Paul presented basic photography lessons to Lone Star College’s "Adult Lifelong Learning" classes.

We all take vacations to destinations, photographing hundreds, perhaps thousands of photos that we strongly want to share with others.  We take photos of almost anything that attracts us on our trip and we sometimes overwhelm our audience with too much or underwhelm them with photos that we should delete or just leave out.

Some planning is needed when we consider what we want to share.

Paul Gregg will share a whirlwind trip to an area in West Texas familiar to some and unknown to others. He will discuss how some photos are tweaked to show the viewer the difference in what the camera "saw" and what the photographer wants the viewer to see.

At the meeting, briefly please tell us
(1) why you chose these photos,

Remember: This is not a contest. We are not looking for professional shots. We just want to get to know you better through your pictures!

Craft Circle Photoshoot

November may seem like the end of the year, but we’re starting to make plans for the Craft Circle Photoshoot on Wednesday, November 20 with set up and other preps the day before.
Besides rearranging our space to allow for more room and better workflow, we are going to organize into teams for each of the three photoshoot stations: Canon, Nikon, and Nikon/Tent.
The teams will include shooters, stagers, and computer operators. Each team leader will be responsible for general organization within the team as well as deciding the equipment needed.
There’s plenty of more information and training to come, but please be thinking about how you would like to volunteer.
We’ll be back in touch in September after you return from the beach and the mountains.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please give us a shout at info@TheWoodlandsCameraClub.org.

Thank you,
Becky and Regan

Mentor Program

Each month many TWCC members share their knowledge and time both informally and formally as “mentors” to other club members. It may be by e-mail, phone, or even in person at different locations around The Woodlands.

Learning from a friend or neighbor is one of the best experiences in a club like ours. To see who’s available to help you grow your photo skills visit

Our Purpose

is to bring together people interested in exploring the wonder of God’s creation through the lens of a camera. Members of all ages encourage one another and share their efforts to record nature, travels, people and memories. Anyone is welcome to join this club. We are here to teach one another through enjoyable activities and meetings, to make new friendships through a common interest, to support The Woodlands United Methodist Church through our photography, and to glorify God through it all.

The Woodlands United Methodist Church
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.

Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you - you of little faith?

So do not worry, saying, "What shall we eat?" or "What shall we drink?" or "What shall we wear?"

For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:25-33
