Mike Schaffner – "Seeing" in Black and White

Speaker at the monthly club meeting on July, 1st 2019
Mike Schaffner is an active member of The Woodlands Camera Club and has a great enthusiasm and talent for Black & White photography.

People sometimes look at Black & White processing as a way to "rescue" a color photo that just doesn't seem to "work". However, B&W offers much more than that and is a true style in its own right. We'll discuss what makes a good B&W image and how to "see" those attributes when viewing a potential scene for photography.

Remember: This is not a contest. We are not looking for professional shots. We just want to get to know you better through your pictures!

Thank you to our volunteers!

Thank you to Andy Howard and Bella LaTaste for volunteering to take photos at the vow renewal ceremony for six couples who completed the TWUMC re|engage marriage course.

Andy says it was a “nice service - so moving that there were (also) 3 “walk up” vow renewing couples and one baby that must have wanted to walk up to!".

Mentor Program

Each month many TWCC members share their knowledge and time both informally and formally as “mentors” to other club members. It may be by e-mail, phone, or even in person at different locations around The Woodlands.

Learning from a friend or neighbor is one of the best experiences in a club like ours. To see who’s available to help you grow your photo skills visit

Happy 4th of July!

Wishing y'all a very happy and blessed independence day!

God Of Our Fathers

God of our fathers, Whose almighty hand
Leads forth in beauty all the starry band
Of shining worlds in
splendor through the skies
Our grateful songs before Thy throne arise.

Thy love divine hath led us in the past,
In this free land by
Thee our lot is cast,
Be Thou our Ruler, Guardian, Guide and Stay,
Thy Word our law, Thy paths our chosen way.

From war’s alarms, from deadly pestilence,
Be Thy strong arm our ever sure
Thy true religion in our hearts increase,
Thy bounteous goodness
nourish us in peace.
Refresh Thy people on their toilsome way,
Lead us from night to
never ending day;
Fill all our lives with love and grace divine,
And glory, laud, and praise be ever Thine.
Written in 1876 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence
