In this monthly update, you will find our new online tutorial on Housing, Land and Property in Somalia, recently published article in the Forced Migration Review on multi stakeholder approach to address urban displacement, update on ongoing studies, upcoming events, meetings, and other useful resources published over the past few months.
Research, analysis and knowledge management

Article on multi-stakeholder approach to address urban displacement in Somalia I February 2019: ReDSS in partnership with the Baidoa municipality and Danwadaag Solutions Consortium developed an article that illustrates how actors are collaborating to provide a coordinated comprehensive response to urban displacement under the leadership of local authorities. Update on ongoing researches:
Land administration and governance challenges of rapid urbanization and forced displacement in Somalia: The Synthesis report summarizing key findings, analysis and recommendations from the city-level reports (Baidoa, Kismayo and Mogadishu) is currently being peer reviewed by a select technical team of practitioners. Programme support and capacity development
Online tutorial on understanding Housing Land and Property (HLP) in Somalia: The 7-min white board animation focuses on: the basic concepts related to HLP rights; the relevance of HLP in relation to durable solutions and practical actions aimed at informing HLP intervention in Somalia. Click here for the animation. ReDSS would also like to thank NRC, IGAD, BRCiS, IOM and UN HABITAT for their technical expertise during the development of the animation. ReDSS will translate the animation into Somali and a self-test quiz will be available on our website in the coming days.
Policy dialogue
ReDSS Somalia Policy dialogue workshop, 26 March, (virtually convened):  In 2020, ReDSS Somalia is reviewing and updating its policy agenda to support engagement in local, national and regional policy processes. The focus will be on use of evidence and learning from durable solutions programming to support coherent engagement in coordination fora at the national and area-based levels. Benadir Regional Administration’s (BRA) Durable Solutions Strategy: Click here to access the BRA’s Mogadishu Durable Solutions Strategy (2020 – 2024). ReDSS and its members were involved in the development process of the strategy. BRA has incorporated indicators from the ReDSS/IASC framework in order to measure the achievement of durable solutions.
