CTYP July Newsletter
 

Thank you to everyone who participated in the statewide young professional survey.  Our results showed that many of you are interested in learning more about mental health. This month, we are providing mental health resources and will continue to do so in smaller amounts in our newsletters.


Mental Health Resources

To learn more about mental health disorders, visit mentalhealth.gov.

Finding a therapist
If you have insurance, your company should be able to provide a list of providers that are within the network of your plan. 

No insurance? Many counselors and therapists have sliding payment scales available for clients paying out of pocket. There are many sites, including Resource to Recovery located here in CT, that have put together a vetted list. Other general search sites include Psychology Today and NetworkTherapy.com.

Virtual therapy has become the norm during COVID-19, and these resources provided alternatives to in-person therapy before social distancing. Alternatives to traditional therapy - Mindfulness and Meditation

If you feel that talk therapy is not for you, there are alternatives. Mindfulness and meditation in particular can help with anxiety, depression, motivation, and trauma. There's even evidence to support that mindfulness can help with racial trauma.  Read more here.

We've all heard that exercise and physical health affect your mental health, so check out these resources to incorporate more physical activity and healthy choices into your life.
