July 2015

I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July. It's so hard to believe that we are in the middle of summer. Time is slipping by way too fast.  Which means before we know it the holiday season will be upon us.

Speaking of holidays...I was watching the Hallmark channel and they are playing their Christmas movies as part of a "Christmas in July" celebration.  Then I saw a couple of sale ads for it as well. No one is quite sure who started it, or how it started exactly but it seems to be a thing in certain areas.  Wikipedia mentions about the difference of weather in the Northern & Southern hemispheres. As well as the fact that after July 1st (Canada Day) & July 4th (US) we lack holidays until Labor Day, so perhaps this is when it's easier for families to get together. Also, merchandise sells are good toward the end of July (after summer sales are done but before school shopping begins).

*shrug* No matter the reason, I thought it would be nice to celebrate with a little contest. Who wants to win a $20 Amazon gift card? It's easy to enter.

July 30th - Aug. 2nd : I'll be attending GeekyCon (as a fangirl) again.
It's full of youtubers, actors, writers, music, & panels galore. I've met screenwriters such as James Moran (from Dr. Who & Torchwood), & Robbie Thompson (from Supernatural & writes the Marvel comic "Silk") as well as Amber Bensen (actress & YA writer) and many more last year. Even caught a glimpse of John Green..

Aug. 23 - 29 : I'll be, I mean researching at St. Pete Beach.
Attending a conference with my husband that has nothing to do with writing, but I'm sure I'll get plenty of story ideas.

Sept. 21 - 29: My first time visit to New York City
Which will be awesome in itself, but right in the middle of the vacation I'll be in Secaucus, NJ attending a "Supernatural" Con. It's full of meet & greets, panels, autographs, & photos. Yeah, I so see a story popping up with a Convention setting.

So excited for this summer's activities! Also, hoping to complete the rewrites to "Testing Passion" with new scenes added and submitted to a publisher, as well as trying to finish my 3rd Dragon Riders book.

Have a fun filled summer!

My husband and I have recently changed a part of our lifestyle.. Rather than saying "Diet" we've decided to call it a "Change in our eating habits". Our eating plan comes from "The Maker's Diet" by Jordan Rubin (book found on Amazon). We've knocked out all the preservatives, all the non-natural sugars, and processed foods. It's not always easy, but we've gotten great results and we feel much better. So far, 8 weeks and I'm 20 lbs lighter.
It's also had me looking and experimenting with healthier recipes. With the summer beating down on us I'd like to share one that is simple and makes a great evening snack.

Homemade Healthy Ice Cream
1 banana – sliced and frozen
Fruit of your choice frozen (mango, strawberry, blueberry, etc…)
Several tablespoons of milk
*Place frozen fruit in a food processor (It doesn’t work as well in a blender)
* Be patient. You may have to stop and push the fruit from the walls a couple of times
* Add milk a tbsp. at a time until the desired consistency is desired.
Makes one large bowl or 2 smaller ones, depending on how much fruit is added with the banana.

Enjoy a sweet treat without all the preservatives.
