DAYS FOR GIRLS SERVICE DAY: TUESDAY, JULY 13 Join us for part or all of the day on Tuesday, July 13, 9am-9pm, for our Days for Girls Day of Service. No experience is necessary -- there is a job for everyone! Days for Girls kits are filled with all a girl or woman needs during her period.
The pads and shields are washable, and generally last about 3 years. The kits allow girls to continue to go to school, women to continue to work, and provide self-esteem and dignity for all who receive them.
You can also donate gallon freezer bags with zip tops (not sliders), girls underwear size 12 or larger, travel size soap, dark washcloths, and quilting cotton fabric. Please join us in the Terrace Room!
DELEGATES NEEDED FOR THE CLERGY-LAITY
The St. Mary's Philoptochos Chapter can send up to three delegates to the Philoptochos Conference of the Metropolis of Chicago Clergy-Laity Assembly. The "early bird discount" requires registration by August 1, so we want to elect our delegates by the end of July.
Would you like to be a delegate? Here's what you need to know: • Delegates attend all Philoptochos meetings and plenary sessions to the best of their ability. They are asked to bring relevant information back to our local chapter.
• Transportation, registration, and hotel expenses are covered by our chapter.
• More information at: www.Chicago.goarch.org/Clergy-Laity
If you are interested in being a delegate, please contact Annette Legeros (talk/text 952-239-5060 or email MplsPhilo@gmail.com) BY TUESDAY, JULY 27. Members will then vote to elect delegates via Survey Monkey, which will be sent via email by the end of the month.

WOMEN'S BOOK CLUB DISCUSSION ON AUGUST 10 The current read of the Women's Book Club is "Wounded by Love: The Life and the Wisdom of Elder Porphyrios." The book is available at the church book store and the church office. The discussion is scheduled for 7pm on Tuesday, August 10, location to be determined.
Excerpt from the back cover: Elder Porphyrios, a Greek monk and priest who died in 1991, stands in the long tradition of charismatic spiritual guides in the Eastern Church which continues from the apostolic age down to figures such as Saint Seraphim of Sarov and Staretz Silouan in modern times. In this book he tells the story of his life and, in simple, deeply reflected and profoundly wise words, he expounds the Christian faith for today.
The book was compiled after his death from an archive of notes and recordings of his reminiscences, conversations and words of guidance, and was first published in Greek in 2003.
