The second edition of the “Exhibition Industry EU Dialogue” organised on 21st February 2018 by the European Exhibition Industry Alliance (EEIA) in Brussels was again a success. Over 50 participants from all over Europe gathered for a day of policy insights, open discussions, advocacy work and political networking.
Claude Membrez (CEO Palexpo and EMECA President), Gerald Böse (CEO Koelnmesse and UFI European Chapter Chair) and David Boon (General Manager Brussels Expo, EMECA Vice President EU Relations and UFI European Chapter Vice Chair) welcomed the participants and speakers. IFES guest at EMECA EU Working Group meeting in Brussels, 22nd February 2018
The EMECA EU WG members met at the EMECA premises the day after the Exhibition Industry EU Dialogue to dive deep into several legal topics relevant for the exhibition industry, to analyse, discuss and find positions. Uta Goretzky participated as a guest for IFES, completing the picture and position finding as to the Posting of Workers legislation. After reviewing the current state of the matter, it was decided to closely monitor the upcoming revision of the underlying Directive and to check whether a comprehensive info tool exists which list the cross border conditions and administrative procedures to be completed for all EU countries. The exhibition associations do not have the means to build up a data base on their own which would need constant updating. In addition to this, input is welcome to be provided to Barbara Weizsäcker on national solutions, good practices and exemptions for the exhibition industry, so that active proposals can be made to the legislators.

This year IMEX in Frankfurt is launching a new conference

A chance to shed new light on an old debate
The topic of gender equality is growing LOUDER by the minute. It's time to make positive change happen and overthrow a culture of silence that's had its day.
This year IMEX in Frankfurt is launching a new conference - She Means Business*. Speakers from backgrounds including science and technology, media, finance, cardiology and the UN will address the issues facing women today. Through conversation, collaboration and learning, we believe we can shed new light on an old debate.
This inspiring meeting of women (and men) takes place on EduMonday, 14 May.
