Prepping Your Dock For Summer
We are all ready for the weather to warm up so we can get out on the water! Setting up your waterfront is one of the most important parts of prepping for boating season. Follow these tips in setting up your dock this Spring so when Summer rolls around you are ready to go!
  • Easy Assembly and Installation: If you're a seasonal boater, and have taken your dock out for the winter months it is in your best interest to have a dock that is easily installed and removed. A wheel-in dock may be something to consider if your waterfront allows. Any removable decking, legs, and accessories are also things that make set-up a breeze.
  •  Check Your Water Level: As the weather begins to warm up, melting snow and rain are underway. It is important to choose a dock system with an adjustable height for these situations. Keep in mind, the tallest waves should never hit your dock frame.
  • Clean Things Up: Just because your dock sits in the water all the time doesn't mean it's necessarily clean. Aluminum boat docks are rot-resistant, so they can be cleaned with enviormentally safe products. Canopy covers should be kept up - all pine nuts and other things that have fallen should be cleared.

Why Should you Use a Boat Lift?

Your boat may belong in the water for some boating fun, but it does not belong in the water when it is not being used. Boat lifts exist for a good reason - more boating long term!

Boat Quality
No matter what your boat hull is made of there is always a chance of it collecting build-up from sitting in the water. Aluminum parts and the gelcoat on your boat may stain easily and also reflect water damage. By using a boat lift, you kick these negative effects to the side.

Boat Safety
Leaving your boat tied to a dock or buoy has its risks. Keep the rainstorms, high winds, and water out of your boat and put it on a lift to ensure you keep your boat in the best condition as possible.

A boat lift provides a secure storage spot and a place for damage protection for your boat. Also add a canopy for the ultimate protection from the sun.

Lake Safety Tips

Summer time is right around the corner, which means it's time to get on the lake. When spending time on the lake, it is good to know all things safety. Keep yourself, your friends, and family safe on the lake this year!

  • Life Jackets: Wearing a life jacket on the lake is a must! Be sure to have lifejackets for everyone on board the boat as well.
  • Watercraft Lights: Knowing which lights to use on your watercraft is important to keeping you and others safe. Typically you use a red and green sidelight that can be seen from far away. Most boats also use a white back light on the stern of the boat. Your docking lights are not to be used while going on a night time cruise.
  • Never Go Alone: No matter what, keeping someone with you at all times keeps you safe in case something were to happen.
  • Boating Safety Course: Stay up to date on your boater's safety to ensure you and your loved ones stay safe on the water.
