Caring For Your Seawall this Summer
Your seawall is so important to your lakefront property. Make sure you're taking all the steps to ensure it lasts as long as possible and performs well!

Visual Inspection
You should be looking your seawall over regularly. Look for cracks, rot, splitting, termite damage, or anything else that doesn't look right. It may not be a bad idea to have a professional look over your seawall yearly, also.

Get Repairs Right Away
If your seawall has anything wrong with it, make sure you are getting these repairs done. Be sure you contact someone to fix it as soon as possible. Most of the time, those tiny problems can often lead to even bigger and more expensive problems in the long run.

Remove Vegetation
The spring and summer months can bring lots of vegetation in and around your seawall. Like with many things including your seawall, some plants can cause major structural damage. It is important to keep up with pulling the plants around your seawall as soon as you see them.

*Contact us this fall if you have a vinyl seawall you need repaired or replaced.
It's Almost Summer - Lake Cabin Prep!

There's only three months until summer! Can you feel it?! I know we can! Those lake days are at our fingertips!

If you own a lake home, here's some things we suggest you do to get your waterfront home prepped for summer:

Deep Clean Your Home
Chances are your cabin hasn't been cleaned much this winter if you only live there part time. Deep clean the inside of the house, the fridge and freezer, power wash your dock and deck, and anything else that looks as if it could use a nice touch up to get ready for those long summer days.

Clean Your Water Toys
Your boat and jet ski could use a good cleaning after being in storage all winter long. This can be a time consuming task so make sure you block out at least half a day for this if you are planning on doing it yourself. Scrub down the outside of the boat, the prop, wipe down the seats, under the seats, and everywhere else. This will get your summer started on the right foot. Nothing is better than a clean watercraft, right?!

Put On Your Canopy
Once you get your boat put into the water, now is the time to pull your canopy out of storage and put it on! Just be sure to do this after your boat is on the lift otherwise the wind could pick up your entire boat lift and flip it upside down.

2021 Installs Have Officially Started

2 Years Since the Midwest Floods - How Our Community Has and Continues to Rally Together

To say we are extra grateful to have our home, Lake WaConDa, still standing after the floods in March 2019 is an understatement. We know others weren't as lucky, some have gotten to rebuild their homes while others think it's best to try and let it go.

The floods were said to be the combination of the "perfect storm" of conditions. Luckily 2 years later, the Missouri River is at a near-record low, which means it is far less likely to get backed up like the way it did in 2019.

Here's a few ways the community rallied together:

  • The #NebraskaStrong fundraiser raised over $441K dollars.
  • The Nebraska Strong Recovery Project, funded in 2020 with $6.7 million in new federal grants, offers continued outreach to connect people in need with crisis counseling services and other resources.
  • With the novel coronavirus, the outreach methods have changed. Instead of going door-to-door in flood-damaged communities, outreach workers had to find ways to get the word out across the state without making risky personal contacts.
