Friends Replace Family As Caregivers

This inspiring film from AARP is one of the winners of a unique contest it sponsored with the Ad Counsel where filmmakers were challenged to make a short film about what caregiving today really looks like.

The film features two unrelated women who are caring for an 81-year-old friend of theirs, a man named Bill who suffered a stroke while he was attending the opera. One of the women is a 40-year-friend, the other a neighbor of 17 years.

Of Volunteers and Task Teams...
The Work of Creating a Strong & Sustainable Village

Have you been to a Village at Home talk yet?

If you have and indicated an interest in offering your time and talents as a volunteer, we will be contacting you in the next few weeks to talk about the different task teams devoted to making our Village a reality.

The Planning Team has been busy doing the preliminary work of organizing so we can best serve the needs and interests of our future members.  Now that we have set a launch date - Fall, 2017! - we are ramping up our efforts to prepare for providing services and programs.

We are calling for more folks to join other worker bees on a task team and to make things happen!  Things like...
  • Recruiting other volunteers, new members and vetted vendors
  • Writing business and strategic plans
  • Growing our business supporters circle
  • Raising funds for a health reserve operational cash flow (vital to stability during the first years)
  • Keeping our website and Facebook pages current, informative and lively
  • Writing press releases and producing our monthly Tidings newsletter
  • Conducting member needs and services assessments
  • Creating a directory of existing aging services so we won't duplicate services
....and those are just a few of the tasks before us.

We look forward to talking with you and welcoming you to our team of friendly, dedicated-and essential-"worker bee" volunteers!
