Special Report from Villages NW:
Foundations Support our Villages' Growth and Development
As of December 31, the four open villages in our Villages NW network had 198 members in 148 households. We are well on our way to the goal of 300 members by the end of 2017. In December alone, volunteers provided 40 rides plus a variety of other services. The total number of volunteers providing services or village development and support throughout Villages NW now exceeds 250. We are very excited about the progress we have made over the past year and look forward to enjoying the friendships, activities and mutual help and support throughout 2017.
Three foundations – Kaiser Permanente Northwest, The Holzman Foundation and the OCF Joseph E. Weston Public Foundation – and another donor have contributed a total of $28,000 to further Village growth and development this year. We are very grateful for their belief in us and appreciate their generosity.
According to Anjala Ehelebe, North Star Village’s Planning Team Chair, North Star Village will use its share of these gifts - $3,680 – to achieve the following goals:
• Create support programs and activities for members
• Grow membership
• Recruit and train volunteers
• Expand community support
• Procure software to help North Star Village provide services to its members.
